Safer Ocean Systems Ltd. HIRING FOR Administration Assistant – Online/Virtual Training AT Nanaimo, BC Full Time

Safer Ocean Systems is looking for a part-time Administration Assistant. The successful candidate would be the primary contact for our students enrolling in our Virtual and Online Courses.

This position would be ~20 hours/week.

Safer Ocean Systems is a Transport Canada approved Maritime Training Institute offering a wide range of courses and certifications required for work in the maritime industry. Our courses cover a broad range of the training, everything from entry-level crew and deckhands to boat captains.

Duties would include:

• Enrolling students into our Online Courses
• Assisting Students in accessing online material
• Creating user accounts and passwords for new students
• Being available on Zoom at the start of a new course and at the end of a course to assist students and instructors.
• Preparing mail-out packages for new students.
• Customer service
• Occasional assisting other office and admin staff with in-person courses.
• Occasionally running errands (picking up textbooks from printers, dropping off packages at post office)

What we are looking for in a candidate:

• good basic understanding of Email, Zoom, MS Word, MS Excel, and/or other similar business programs.
• Knowledge of Moodle or other LMS (Learning Management Systems) used for virtual training would be a big asset.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Organized
• Helpful
• Good customer service skills
• Knowledge about, or interest in, the boating and marine industry would be an asset.

Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 20 per week

Salary: From $18.75 per hour
